Have you ever wondered why Georgia is called the Peach State or the Empire State of the South? Georgia is prepresented by many important symbols, and each symbol has a special reason why it was chosen. Let's go on an information hunt to find out what the many symbols of Georgia are and the story behind them!
You may use the following books to introduce yourself to some of the important facts of Georgia. Then complete your research in the computer lab using the Web sites listed below:

After you have gathered the information on 10 Georgia State Symbols, you will use your notes to create a slide show in KidPix. Your slideshow should include a title page and 5 more pages to illustrate and explain the meaning of each symbol (2 per page).
You will present your slideshow to the class to show what you have learned about our important state symbols.
