Advised students and served on several university wide committees including a campus wide technology vision committee. Supervised student teachers and designed and taught the first graduate course in Instructional Technology in the College of Education.

EDMG 4403: Teaching Social Studies in Middle Grades Education
Course Description: This course is a segment of an 11-hour block designed to develop appropriate teaching strategies in social studies. Students apply learning theories, teaching techniques, questioning strategies, instructional materials, and assessment procedures for middle grades learners. Students will develop and implement plans for teaching social studies in an interdisciplinary team setting. In an extensive field experience, students will teach middle grades learners.

EDUC 2110: Investigating Critical & Contemporary Issues in Education
Three Sections – (Hybrid online format)
Course Description: This course engages candidates in observations, interactions, and analyses of critical and contemporary educational issues. Candidates will investigate issues influencing the social and political contexts of educational settings in Georgia and the United States. Candidates will actively examine the teaching profession from multiple vantage points both within and outside the school. Against this backdrop, candidates will reflect on and interpret the meaning of education and schooling in a diverse culture and examine the moral and ethical responsibilities of teaching in a democracy. Includes the use of current technologies which are directly related to effective teaching and 15 hours of observation and participation in a childhood, middle grades, secondary or P-12 education.

EDMS 6115: Knowledge of All Learners (Fully online)
The first online course developed and offered by KSU for Georgia OnMyLine Consortium.
Course Description: This course will investigate the basic theories of learning, development, and communication that create productive classroom instruction for all learners. Particular attention will be paid to understanding how differences in ethnicity, class, gender, religion, language, and exceptionality affect the work of teachers and learners in modern society. The characteristics, legal requirements, and teacher responsibilities for students with disabilities will also be articulated in this class. This course includes a field experience in which candidates observe and work (mentoring, tutoring, interviewing, etc.) with adolescents one-on-one, focusing on development, needs, exceptionalities, diversity, and learning styles.
EDUC 6100L: Practicum I
Course Description: An experiential, service learning project in which candidates work (mentoring, tutoring, interviewing, etc.) with adolescents or young adults, one-on-one, focusing on development, needs, exceptionalities, diversity, and learning styles. Requires proof of liability insurance. Candidates must have a satisfactory practicum to continue in the MAT program without remediation.

Course Description: Through the exploration of both traditional and advanced educational technologies,
candidates will develop technological skills and strategies of implementation to build an integrated plan of utilizing technology for improving classroom teaching and student learning.

Scholarship:
Scholarship is primarily focused on on-line delivery of content. Professionally, I have worked with the State of Georgia on state wide data collection and built the State of Georgia report card web sites. These sites report the test scores of all Georgia public schools. In addition, I am involved with a project with the Board of Regents and the Professional Standards Commission to find diverse and technology-rich student teacher placements.

One received a Fullbright scholarship to San Joes State University.
